Good morning! This is Brenda, back with a Sunday edition of Insanely Cool Tools, covering a fun mix of tools that’ll make you forget about the workweek coming up.

I got a ton of feedback about the screenshots in the last issue. Looks like we really like them, and they’re here to stay! Get ready for more vibrant newsletters. ✨

Additionally, thank you for taking the time to tell me whether or not you enjoy the newsletter in general. I always welcome both positive feedback and constructive criticism so I can learn how to best provide value to your week.

In fact, there’s a question end of this issue inspired by some feedback I received last week. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Now, to the tools!

Here’s what I found…

1 / Beanheads — Get super cute, diverse characters for your apps and games. There are a ton of combinations (about a billion) you can create with different expressions, clothing, hair styles and colors. If you don’t code, you can embed them into your website. If you do code, use the open source React package!

2 / Mmm — Remember when the web was full of unique, slightly eccentric, maybe not so readable websites? Mmm brings back some of that flavor with a simple drag and drop interface for creating wacky personal websites. I was able to whip one up in 5 minutes: brace yourself for an insanely cool website.

3 / 98.css — Continuing with the web 1.0 theme, we have a design system for building faithful recreations of old UIs. The library contains no JavaScript, just HTML and CSS, so it can be used with any front-end framework. Combined with mmm.page, we can recreate the whole 90s digital world at this rate.

4 / Built With — Ever wonder what tech stack a website is using? Or which metrics tracker, advertising integration, DNS, and CMS they use? Built With tells you in detail. I tried it with insanelycooltools.com… and it’s way more accurate and thorough than I expected. 🤔

Before you go, 2 quick questions! ⚡️

I’ve been thinking about how to pack these weekly issues more valuable information. What do you think?

Would you want more details and data on these tools? (e.g. estimated/actual revenue, customer base, audience size, founder interviews) 📈

Last time, a few of you mentioned there were too many ads. While I try to keep them unobtrusive, I would love to do away with them completely, so I was wondering…

Would you pay $2/mo ($24/year) to have a completely ad-free version of Insanely Cool Tools? 💸
